Opinions on Plastic Bins & Containers

There truly is no one size fits all bin or container. As I move through my own house, I can quickly spot the variety of bins and containers that I use to keep my own stuff in line. And since there is no one size fits all solution, each bin has a certain set of characteristics that make it specifically more useful in some situations that it might fail in, in other situations. It is important to know what these characteristics are and how a bin’s strengths can be highlighted, and its weaknesses avoided to choose the right quality of bin the first time round, otherwise, you’re just creating additional waste and frustration. Today we’ll focus on the opaque Plastic Bins & Containers.

Plastic bins and containers come in a vast variety of sizes and can be purchased at a very low cost. Any time I’m working on a low-budget project, I typically stick to these containers. They can be purchased at most budget stores. However, there must be the understanding that these are sub-quality products and aren’t meant for heavy usage or heavy items. They are very prone to warping, breaking, and generally sucking. The best use for these is to contain items roughly the same weight as the bin itself.

I have some additional comments when it comes to large bins for garage storage. Because these bins will typically be used to store large and/or heavy items, invest a bit more. You’ll be thankful in the long run. When shopping for new bins. Look at the bin on the bottom of the stack. If the bin is showing wear and pressure from everything on top of it, it’s not going to be a good fit in the long run.
