Do you remember the first time you stepped into your home, apartment, or space? The room was likely staged to look pristine, or maybe it was completely empty. Either way, in that moment, you were envisioning what that space would look like with you in it.
There’s a good chance that you didn’t imagine the space as cluttered and overwhelming, right? Good intentions and all. One thing I’ve noticed in all my clients is shame and guilt. Shame that they let the space get so bad, guilt that they can’t tackle it on their own.
One thing we must remember is, it didn’t start this way, and it doesn’t have to end this way. Often the small piles become bigger piles, which then turn into mountains of stress, obligation, regret, and overwhelm. Start small and set an intention. Go into your time understanding that it’s ok to leave a job half-done. That good is good enough.
Are you experiencing shame and guilt? Know that you’re not alone and that there are steps that you can take! Review your resources. Review the level of “pain” the space is causing. Imagine your space, brand new again.
